FIGURES

Quick grace note figures moving towards or from an accentuated sound. Their speed is generally fast. The length of a FIGURE is specified in the global PHRASE parameter.

The tendency determines the direction of one FIGURE:

• up: generally ascending
• down: generally falling
• even: staying on a single note with more or less inflexions

The speed determines the change of tempo:

• acc: accelerating (accelerando)
• rit: decelerating (ritardando)
• const: constant speed - also with "rubato"

The envelopes (crescendo towards an accentuated sound - decrescendo after an accentuated sound - swelling/fading to/from an accentuated sound) are free.
